movie night with Sherral

Jay's room has gotten bigger to include a large tv, a surround sound system and a very comfy looking couch with big cushions; the sort you can happily fit a few people or fall asleep on.

"Make yourself comfortable." Jay lays out the basket of steak pies, steamed veg with cheese and chunky roast root vegetables with bacon. All food that can be easily eaten with one hand. He puts A New Hope on and joins Sherral on the couch.

Sherral turns red, and it occurs to him how very stupid that is given what they've just been doing.

"I also like you a lot," he says, a little stutteringly.

- Right, well, that's plenty emotional openness for one week, Sherral thinks.

"If you insist, I can hardly stop you," he says eventually.

Jay can't help but chuckle. It's kinda nice to know they're as emotionally retarded as each other.

His hands move softly over Sherral's skin, avoiding the injuries he mapped earlier and massaging knotted muscle where he finds it. "I insist. Now rest."

"Mrlgh," Sherral says agreeably, shutting his eyes.

Jay goes on some time, soothing and relaxing Sherral's tension. Between the attack and being forcing into an infirmary bed, he's undoubtedly carrying a bit. Satisfied that he's done all he can, Jay snuggles in close and closes his own eyes, just enjoying the feel of Sherral in his arms.

Sherral sleeps soundly for a while, but it's not too long before he wakes up again. It's a relatively calm, quiet awakening, but that doesn't change the fact that he's breathless when he does.

Jay moves silently next to him, easing Sherral into a slightly more upright position to help him breath. "You okay?"

"Aye," Sherral says, a little roughly. "Ill dreams, nothing of import."

Jay nods and moves to sit behind him, supporting Sherral's shoulders against his chest. He takes Sherral's good hand and starts massaging, working the pressure points. He also nuzzles Sherral's neck gently. "Wanna go back to sleep or share a shower?"

Sherral laughs a little. "I don't think I could stand having to work around this sling to have a shower just yet."

"I could help." Jay grins, running Sherral's leg, "Oh course, a sponge bath is always an option."

"You could, at that," Sherral agrees. "But for the sake of my pride, I think there's a limit to how much being helped I can stomach in any one day."

Jay laughs warmly and kisses him. "In that case, I'm ordering breakfast and we can start going over what little tricks of mine might be useful to you."

He gets up and pulls some shorts on, pressing a hand to the front of one of the lockers. The surface under his hand lights up and the locker click open to reveal racks and trays of weapons, small grenades and other strange assortments of tools.

Sherral sits up, peering at the weapons and tools. "Impressive collection."

"And that's only what I store here. You should see some of my safe-houses. I'll take you to one when we head to Hong Kong." He offers, pulling out a handful of glass spheres the size of marbles. "These might come in handy - smoke grenades. Good for covering your attack or retreat."

"Handy. He'll still know where I am - he was wearing his armour, so he'll still have his helmet display to identify me with," Sherral says. "But if the smoke is thick enough, he won't be able to see my arms or aught like that."

"Making you invisible to helmet displays will take work but it's not impossible. I could fit you with a stealth mode suit, something that represses heat and movement tracking the way mine does."

"He'll be tracking me by my Mist signature," Sherral says, shaking his head. "Our helmets are loaded with Libra, to identify each other in the field. There's not much way that I know of to counter that."

"Bugger." Jay taps his fingers on the bench as he brews Sherral some tea and himself some coffee. "Can mist signatures be faked? Is there something we could use to give off a similar or disguising signature?"

"Not as near as I know," Sherral says. "I'll be able to scan him just as easily, though."

"Okay, we'll stick to traditional non-mist tools then." He runs his hands over the shelves. "Glue pellets. Good for keeping him in one spot. Needs Ethanol to reverse it. Drop them in his path and he'll have to ditch his boots to keep coming at you. Or across his visor to block his view." He hands Sherral tea and keeps working his way over the shelves. "Malleable explosive charges. Tracking darts. EM pulses might help - the thing I used on the lighting horse."

"The glue pellets, explosive charges and tracking darts should definitely help," Sherral says. "Keep him in one place, at the very least."

Jay nods and starts putting together a selection of each. "How do you feel about firearms?"

"I've never been trained in their use. They're reserved for Imperial Marksmen," Sherral says.

Jay nods. "Something easy to use then. I can teach you the basics but anything fancy take time and practice." He lifts out a little holdout pistol, the sort that would be hidden in a boot or pocket. "Lemon squeezer can be great in a tight corner, especially when no-one expects you to be carrying."

Sherral lifts an eyebrow. "... Lemon squeezer?"
