Exploring London with Sherral

Jay opens the door out into a very expensive hotel suite. "Let me just grab my own gear." He gestures towards the balcony and the view across the city.

"Back the fuck off, Squire." Jay comes back before Beryl can answer, looking up at her with a faint growl. "This was meant to be my night off. Ambulance is on it's way and so are the police. Your problem now."

He rests a hand on Sherral's waist and steers him towards the street, folding back his mask once they're out of sight. He doesn't speak for several blocks. "Sorry about that."

Sherral rubs the back of his neck. "I probably should have tried to be nicer. My apologies."

Jay's thundercloud mood breaks with a soft laugh. "Oh hell no! Personally I wanted to drag her down by her stupid, fucking pixie boots and given her a thrashing for being a dick. Beryl forgets to be nice when other people are doing her a favour. Or her job."

"I presume she's who you're working those drug rings for?" Sherral asks, cocking his head.

"She is." Jay mutters, pushing his hair back. "I don't know about you but I need a drink."

[No problem. I hope things have improved, or will soon if they haven't.]

"I won't turn one down," Sherral says cheerfully.

Jay steers them towards a bar he doesn't mind, and old place with dark wood and their ground in beer smell. It also has a view of the sky from the rooftop beer garden as Jay finds the low ceilings and confined spaces unnerving. "Here's to strange cities and ungrateful idiots."

"To strange cities and ungrateful idiots. I still need to take you to Rabanastre. Properly, I mean, not for any kind of mission."

"I'd take you to Gotham but-" He shakes his head. "I don't mind missions. I'm not well suited to..." He gestures to the normality around them. "Never have been."

"I - profess that I'm not best suited to it either," Sherral says. He lifts one shoulder. "I've been a soldier since I was fourteen, after all. A town watchman for years before that."

"I was started training at fourteen too but I was on my own on the street before that. This whole normal thing is... painfully overrated." He shakes his head, taking a sip of his drink, aware that he's painfully awkward.

Sherral reaches over, lightly sifting his hand through Jay's hair. "You know, I am entirely fine with doing whatever you want to do."

Jay chuckles and leans in to kiss Sherral, ignoring the people around them. Not that they're making a scene but there are a couple of side-eyes.

"Here I am, bring you to my world and all I'm showing you is the odd mugging and how useless I am at being normal."

Sherral notices the side-eyes, but doesn't concern himself too much with them.

"I'm just happy being here with you," he murmurs.

Jay smiles and cups Sherral's cheek, kissing him more deeply. He leans back and finished his drink. "Come on, lets get out of here and do some flying."

Sherral finishes his own drink, giving Jay a slight smile.

"By all means, lead the way."

Jay grins and scares the assembled crowd by climbing onto the balustrade of the rooftop garden and dropping off into the darkness below.

He throws his jumpline halfway down, flicking his body to swing out onto the next building.

Sherral is considerably more cautious, but he lands on the next building shortly after Jay, casting a quick glance back at the people on the rooftop garden.

Side eyes are replaced by dropped jaws. Jay waits in a shadowed ledge, waiting for Sherral. "Well, that will give them something to talk about." He mutters casually. "I should be being more careful about my identity but frankly, I don't care."

Wryly: "I suppose if you're not planning to stay in this city too much longer, you have room to be a little reckless."

"Pretty much." He mutters, pulling Sherral into another slow kiss. "There's a party on the edge of the city, might be more our kind of crowd."

"I'd be happy to find out," Sherral says, giving Jay a quick smile.

Jay grins and nods towards the outer edge of the city. He stops an open top bus coming up one of the streets ahead of them. "Think you can swing out and land on the top deck?" He asks, careful not to push Sherral into a swing that's dangerous.

Sherral glances at it, thinking for a second. "I should be able to manage that."

Jay grins and drops neatly down onto the bus, flicking his line loose and waiting for Sherral, a hand out to greet him.
