Jay's room is something of a mess. There are designs and schematics all over the place. The table is covered with electronic components and prototypes. He's been tinkering a lot lately.

Jay laughs and sheds his jacket, kicking off his boots. "Sorry for the mess. I've been kinda busy lately."

"That you are," Eric agrees.
"And, as I said, Pam is lazy. She isn't going to make an effort unless she has to. At least not for you. "

He looks over at Jay.
" There are no set rules for when it is time to move on. Some never do. "

Jay chuckles and rubs his neck, remembering the burn of her fangs. "I guess she sees no reason to be gentle with a blood bag. I have to admit it makes me appreciate your effects all the more."

"Pam might be lazy but she seems to manage the bar well. Gives you time to do what you need to do."

[onceaviking]

"She does," Eric says, not addressing whether or not - and certainly not why - he is making effort.

"She bitches a lot but she's good at what she does. And some things do have to be handled by me. It leaves me time to do that. "

Jay chuckles as he stretches again. "It's a pity me being around is a liability. You could do with an extra bouncer."

Eric lifts an eyebrow.

"You have experience? "

[runningred]

"I spotted those local boys, didn't I?" Jay cocks an eyebrow. "I've been taking bar gigs between for the last four years. Mostly bouncing but a bit of bar work." Granted, he was underage for most of that time but good fake ids cover that. And Jay's always looked older than he is.

[onceaviking]

"You did," Eric concedes. "So bouncing, blowing diamond mines up, working for people who stab you instead of handing you a pink slip - interesting career, Jay."

[runningred]

Jay laughs and gets up, holding a hand out to Eric. "You don't know the half of it. Shower?"

[onceaviking]

"Ignorance may be bliss, Jay," Eric says and gets up.
His hand is already cool again.

He can always take a shower.

"Separate worlds mean I don't have to care. "

[runningred]

"You make a good point." And lets face it, he doesn't have a mechanic's scars. In general, mechanics don't have bullet scars, or burns, or that many knife and claw marks. "But if you ever want to know, ask."

He runs the shower, enjoying the many jets.

Eric humms appreciatively as the water is turned on.

He is quiet, then he asks, "So, mines. Small ones for booby trapping. What do you know about those?"

[runningred]

"Depends," Jay answers after a considered moment. "How small are you looking at? Small enough to put someone off looking again or enough to get rid of the nosy individual?"

[onceaviking]

"The latter," Eric replies. "Preferably something that isn't a fire hazard."

[runningred]

"Is it humans or vampires you're trying to keep out? Volatile gasses aren't much use for folks that don't breathe but could be used to harmlessly deal with human intruders." He grabs the soap, absently thoughtful.

[onceaviking]

"Humans," Eric answers. "In case they show up during the day. It's for my house."

[runningred]

"Ah!" It helps to know the parameters. "In that case I'd go with some form of loud or bright deterrent around the perimeter and a motion triggered knock-out gas closer to the house. That way you can deal with them when you wake up."

[onceaviking]

"Can it be put up discreetly, do you think? It's in a residential area."

And the neighbours may not know about the whole vampire thing.

[runningred]

"Discreet would involve a bit of forward planning and possibly me there to install it. It's a pity it's nowhere near Christmas, it amazing what you can hide while being seen to put up lights."

He leans against the wall, letting the spray wash over him. "How landscaped is your garden? I could work it around existing garden beds or trees..."

[onceaviking]

"It isn't. But it could be, "Eric says, washing his hair.

He runs his hand over his face.

"I have had cameras installed and I employ a security firm, but I would like the extra level of security," Eric says.

A paranoid vampire often lasts longer.

[runningred]

Jay clicks his tongue thoughtfully as he washes his own hair. "It'd help to get a look at the schematics for the system you already have. And photos of the yard you want mined."

[onceaviking]

"That could probably be arranged," Eric says, slowly. He hadn't considered this option, but he likes it. It far beats using a local, human company, and he is not going to enlist vampires for this job.

[runningred]

Jay nods and finishes cleaning up, leaning against the tiled wall as he dries off, letting Eric take as long as he wants to. He hums thoughtfully, sorting ideas in his head. "Cool, I can start designing something from there."

[onceaviking]

"That's an agreement then," Eric says, turning toward the spray for one last time.

"You will let me know what you need and what your salary will be after you've seen it. "

[runningred]

Jay waves the comment away. "Once I've got a workable design, I'll let you know what it'll take it in time and resources. If you're keen to keep things professional." It seems strange to be having this conversation while naked in the bathroom. "A layout for your current security and a couple of photos of your yard should do for a start."

A sauna is the best place to conduct business in Eric's opinion, but he enjoys that less now then when he was alive, so the shower is a nice substitute.

He towels off, briskly and efficiently.

"I should head back. I've been summoned. "
He rolls his eyes.

" Can the bike stay here till next time? My garage needs a small overhaul to be ready. "
