Jay leads Eric upstairs and into his room. "Private enough for you?" And at least comfortable for him to sleep it off after Eric's done with him.

He grins and gestures Eric towards him. He knows this is unhealthy, this relationship. But fuck, it's fun!

Eric bends down and puts both arms under Jay. Then he stands and carries him to the bed. Light as a feather.

His skin is smooth and almost warm.

"Mmm. I don't think I've ever felt you so warm." Jay flops happily onto the bed, looking up at him with a soft smile. "Clearly you've enjoyed yourself tonight."

"I would enjoy myself more if I got to kill something," Eric mutters as he heads to the bathroom.

He returns a little while later, with wet hair. And a damp cloth for Jay.

"Sorry beautiful." Jay shrugs, curling up happily around his pillow. "Can't keep snacking on me if I'm dead."

By the time Eric gets back, Jay manages to sit up and take the cloth. "One day I'll be strong enough afterwards to join you in that shower." He cleans himself up, if a little slowly.

Eric lifts an eyebrow.

"Why?"

What he does and how he sees himself aren't always exactly in alignment. Despite the fact that he has just had sex with Jay, he does not have sex with men.

"Cause it's a nice thing to share after you've-" He cutes himself off and shakes his head. "You know what, don't worry. It's not important."

Eric lies down and stretches out on the bed.

"I like it. The shower. When they start making them, I want two," he says.

Still in a good mood it seems.

"Hedonist." Jay teases, not moving to snuggle or anything. He knows that's not Eric's deal. "And the showers here aren't even anything special. I'll have to take you to my favourite hotel some time."

"They have better showers?"

It seems like you have caught Eric's attention, Jay.

[runningred]

"Amazing showers. With jets not just at the top but all the way down the walls so you can have hot water coming at you from any angle you want." Yeah, Jay's a hedonist when it comes to bathing too. "And a hot tub with a view right out to the bay."

Eric turns on his side, enraptured.

"That sounds glorious," he murmurs.

"Oh yeah, it's amazing." Jay sighs, laying on his back and looking up at the ceiling. "I love turning the jets on the roof down to a soft and cool like rain. Then turn the jets on one side up hot and hard so it's massaging my back and shoulders, and then the ones in front just soft and blood warm. I could stand under that thing for hours."

"It does sound infinitely better than having to make a hole in the ice first. Or having nothing but salt water to wash in for weeks on end," Eric says.

Jay's word choice likely helps.

"I like being clean."
It's true too.

"Much, much better. And the hot water lasts for hours. Keeps you so warm."

He grins over at Eric. "I love being clean too."

[onceaviking]

"And here I thought you liked being dirty," Eric says dryly.

And then he adds, quietly, "I miss that sometimes."
Being warm.

[runningred]

"I like getting dirty, that's for sure." Jay chuckles, stretching like a cat. "But getting clean afterward is fun too."

Jay would normally reach out to Eric at this point, providing comfort. But it's Eric. "You seemed pretty warm tonight."

"Mm," Eric murmurs. Softly. "And I am full for once."

But it won't last long.

He runs a hand through his damp hair and sits up , his back turned on Jay.
He's pensive.

He doesn't like that.

"Hey. What's up? You okay?" Jay asks softly.

[onceaviking]

Eric turns to face Jay. His face is a mask. Beautiful, white, and cold.

"Don't ask me that," he says and goes to pick up his clothes.

He lmust like you, Jay. You get a warning.

There are a hundred response Jay wants to throw back. Half of them conserned, the words of a worried friend; the other half the sharp responses of someone sick of being snapped at. But he bites his tongue and pulls the blankets up. "Till next time, then."

Eric turns, his trousers still unfastened, his shirt unbuttoned.

"There is nothing in me but hunger, Jay. Hunger and rage. Nothing gentle, nothing soft. If there was, my own would tear me apart in an instant.."

It's meant as an explanation of sorts. Perhaps.

"There can be no memories and no regrets. So don't ask me."

Because a small part of him had wanted to answer. He was getting soft. That wouldn't do.

Jay sits up to look at him. "Survive however you have to. And tell yourself whatever you need to hear to do it."

He manages to get to his feet, heading for the bathroom. "I won't ask again if you don't want me to but just because I'm nothing but a meat-sack to you doesn't mean I don't care."

[onceaviking]

"It would be smarter if you didn't," Eric replies.

There's a pause.

"And you are not a meat sack . You're a blood bag."
An attempt at levity?

He is clearly getting soft.

[runningred]

Jay laughs softly and lets himself fall against the wall near the bathroom door. "I thought we established earlier this evening that I'm suicidal stupid. You can't expect me to do the smart thing."

[onceaviking]

"You have a point," Eric concedes .

And then he is pressing Jay against the wall, trapping him, bared fangs mere inches away from his face.

"I am lucky that way," he says, offhandedly, and bites down on Jay's clavicle.
It'll leave a bruise.

Even if he licks it. Which he does.

His eyes are very blue up close.
