Let's face it, Jay's a slut. The minute he saw Eric in the bar, he hoped this was where they'd end up. "So, same arrangement as last time?" He runs his hands over Eric's hard shoulders. "Blood for pleasure and pleasure for blood."

Eric blinks. Then he sighs.

"We did not have helmets with horns on them. Who in their right mind would go into battle with such a thing on their head? And I have always preferred being clean shaven. Apart from that - "

He looks at the ceiling. "It is. Beautiful. I own a farm up there, but I haven't been in ages. The endless nights of winter where the snow lights up everything. So quiet and so cold."

For once, he doesn't seem sarcastic or even wry. He does miss it. Home. Once.

"Who'd have thought a Kurt Douglas film could get it so wrong." He muses sarcastically and mostly to himself.

"Can you visit? I know lot must have changed in a thousand years but..." He trails off, aware from his own history that some times you can't go back, even if you want to.

Eric shrugs. "There are no laws against it," he says.

That could mean so much really.

Jay laughs sleepily. "I'd be worried if there was. Would kinda make you wonder who caused problems if there was a law against beautiful blond Viking vampires entering the country."

Strike when they're tired.

Eric reaches over and strokes Jay's hair. His hand is cool again. And gentle.

That's the thing about the place. It makes you work for it. Not only do you have to woo your food; you have to keep doing so.

He considers it practice.

"That didn't keep you warm for long." Jay leans into the touch a little, letting his eyes slip closed. "I'd offer you another round but I don't think I have it in me."

"I wouldn't risk hurting you beyond your capacity," Eric says, petting his hair a little.

"You should sleep. I will fetch you some water and leave you to it. "

And there's the water. He really is fast.

Jay stretches and snuggles down under the blankets. "Can't go using up your favourite snack." He mumbles without bitterness. "Look after yourself, hey?"

"I always do, Jay and. I always do," Eric says, running his hand down Jay's cheek.

Then he disappers.

Part of Jay wonders if he should hate himself for this. For letting Eric use him, for using Eric in return. He has this constant urge to call the vampire out on the sweet but fake care but he doubts he could keep going through with it without at least the illusion that there's more to it that just physical need.

Tired and sore, he rolls over and lets himself drift. Soul searching can wait.
