Jay slips down the hood of his suit, letting the drones do one last sweep to makes sure everything is sealed. He doesn't take the bike this time but goes on foot, heading straight for the smaller nest of demon rabbits in the lower caves.

This version of the suit keeps his thermal signature down to ambulant and filters breath and sweat to keep his scent from being detected.

Jay forces himself to his feet, cursing the unforgiving cup in his armour and makes for the tree line.

Eric lands, a little ways away, and breaks into a trot.

He is pretty certain he is moving in roughly the right direction.

Jay can hear Eric behind him and drops behind a clump of trees, standing very still.'

Eric stops.
Breathing.

Tasting the air.

[runningred]

Jay stays very, very still, the air exchange on his mask keeping his scent out of the air but it's warmer than the air around him in the crisps evening chill.

He can sense the heat.

Eric growls again. A little softer this time.

[runningred]

Jay stays very still, shutting down the vents in his suit. He can go ten minutes or so on the air in his suit's reserves. Less, if he doesn't slow down his breathing. He tries to meditate, tries to control his body's reactions to Eric's growl.

Eric scans his surroundings and then he stills.

Few beings can be as still as a vampire.
As patient.

Waiting.

Unfortunately Jay's air reaches an end and he has to open the vents again, spilling hot air with a soft but unnatural hiss.

Eric makes a small, pleased sound, and hurls himself in the general direction of the soft but damning noise.

Jay knows he can't outrun Eric, but that doesn't mean he won't give it a go. He bolts for the cover of the trees, abandoning stealth as well.

Eric makes a close to jubilant sound and increases his pace.

Jay can't outrun him for long, zigging and zagging around the trees.

But Eric might slow down, just a little bit.
Just for the fun of it.

And then he is suddenly on top of Jay. Fangs down. Snarling.

Jay rolls, trying to fend Eric off. He may be down, but he's not out. He may only be human but he's in peak combat condition. And the suit is puncture proof so Eric's going to need to work to get his snack out of its wrapper.

Eric likes a bit of a challenge.

He catches one of Jay's wrists and slams it into the ground, growling again.

Even with the impact resistance around his joints, that will hurts. But nothing Jay can't take.

And nothing he's not enjoying. He fights back, swinging at Eric's shoulder at the same time he lashes out with a kick.

Jay's foot connects with Eric's thigh even as he shifts slightly to let his swing slide by.
It's like kicking a boulder.

The boulder doesn't seem to care

Doesn't mean Jay won't try. He fights hard, using every millimeter of leverage he can get.

[onceaviking]

Eric snarls straight into his face, fangs bared, eyes wild.

Then he catches his other hand.

[runningred]

Jay's still trying, even though he has next to no leverage. He does try to nut Eric though.

[onceaviking]

He comes close enough for Eric to snarl and slam an arm down across his throat.

[runningred]

That gets a fun gurgling sound out of Jay as his throat plate goes ridged to protect his windpipe.

But he does stop trashing.

Eric on th other hand doesn't stop growling.

It's a low, ominous sound.

Which is seriously messing with Jay's ability to breath. Or think past his own erection.
