Jay takes Emcee's hand and leads him deeper into the forest. Sure-footed in the darkness, Jay leads him to the glade where he trains. It's private, comfortable and the grass is soft. He sheds his jacket and pulls Emcee close, kissing him slow and deep.

And even though the phrase people I care about makes his eyelids flicker, he knows Jay always means well.
"You won't hurt me, darling," he reassures him. "I know you won't."

At the back door, he slips his hand from Jay's and reaches up to touch his face.
"Thank you, Jay, darling. I had a marvelous evening," he says in earnest. "I think I may stay out here for a little while longer, though. I have such a craving for a cigarette right now," he adds with a light chuckle.

He dislikes going to be alone like this but he understands Emcee's need for solitude too. "Until next time." He opens the door to the bar and slips inside, heading for his room.

As Jay leaves, there is a split second where the Emcee considers following him. But the door closes, and the thought dissipates. Alone again, he ambles over to the porch railing, nimbly perches upon it, and lights up a cigarette.
Ending the night as he began it.
